The Karuk Tribe has failed to reach a gaming agreement with Siskiyou County in California so the parties are now in arbitration. The tribe signed a Class III gaming compact with the state and reached an agreement with the Yreka over impacts of a casino. But talks with the county failed in a dispute over mitigation payments. "The tribe was forced to move forward with this option in order to get an Agreement that is financially sound, reasonable, and fair," Chairman Russell Attebery said in a press release, The Siskiyou Daily News reported. "It’s a shame that this project and the jobs and economic opportunities it will create for Siskiyou County have been delayed.” The tribe hopes to break ground on a $35 million casino in the spring of 2015. Plans call for a 36,000 square-foot facility with 500 gaming machines, eight table games, a 100-seat restaurant and a parking area. Get the Story:
