Mashpee Wampanaog Tribe still faces competing slot parlor

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will still face competition from a non-Indian slot machine parlor in southeastern Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission. said the proposed slot parlor at Raynham Park phased its Phase 1 suitability review. The site is less than 15 miles from the tribe's proposed First Light Resort and Casino in Taunton.

If the slot parlor wins final approval, the tribe's Class III gaming compact calls for the revenue sharing rate to be lowered by 2 percentage points.
