Judge stops county from taking Santa Ysabel Band casino funds
Friday, June 15, 2012
A judge in California has barred San Diego County from seizing gaming revenues owned by the Santa Ysabel Band of Mission Indians until a lawsuit can be resolved.
The tribe owes $3 million to the county under a gaming agreement.
But the tribe says the county has gone after bank accounts that aren't related to the Santa Ysabel Casino.
The tribe is keeping its cash inside the casino for now, The North County Times reported. It's possible that gaming revenues might have been co-mingled with other funds in various bank accounts, an attorney said.
The National Indian Gaming Commission previously warned the county not to seize the tribe's revenues.
