The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake
Superior Chippewa Indians wants to build a $50 million off-reservation casino in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.
The tribe is getting ready to submit a land-into-trust application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. If all goes well, the casino could break ground in summer 2015.
Local support for the casino is strong. In 2003, residents voted 87 percent in favor of the project.
