A proposal to authorize eight non-Indian casinos remains off the November ballot in Michigan.
In a decision last Friday, the Michigan Supreme Court seemingly paved the way for the question to appear on the ballot. But the Board of State Canvassers on Monday failed to garner enough votes to certify the proposal.
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of
Potawatomi Indians, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi
Indians and the Saginaw
Chippewa Tribe are part of a coalition called Protect MI Vote that has opposed the proposal.
