"The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled recently that a ballot proposal which would clear the way for private developers to build eight new casinos in Michigan should not be placed on the ballot.
Let's hope that the proposal stays off the ballot, because it's a losing bet.
If this proposal passes, we will lose our constitutional right to vote on gaming expansion in our community. Detroit would suffer a massive loss of jobs and tax revenue.
Millionaire investors have already spent $2.7 million to try to get their own casinos written into the state constitution and will likely spend millions more to convince us to give them their sweetheart deal. Should they succeed, it will be an economic gut punch for Detroit and a policy disaster for the state."
