Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake owes $30M for modest casino

The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake in California owes $30 million on its new casino, The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports. Chairwoman Sherry Treppa said the debt is based on construction, interest payments, land purchases, and legal and legislative services associated with the land-into-trust process. She said the casino will generate about $20 million a year, enough to pay back Luna Entertainment of Michigan. The 33,000 square-foot Running Creek Casino opens this afternoon. Get the Story:
