Ballot language finalized for Mashpee Wampanoag casino bid

Voters in Taunton, Massachusetts, will to the polls on June 9 to determine whether they want to host a casino for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

As reported by The Taunton Daily Gazette, the ballot language reads: “Shall the City of Taunton, pursuant to Section 91 of Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011, approve the operation of a tribal gaming establishment proposed by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to be located east of Route 24 in the immediate vicinity of the intersection of Route 24 and Route 140?”

The tribe is running Together for Taunton to promote plans for a $500 million casino in the city. An anti-gaming site has been launched at Stop the Taunton Casino.
