Oklahoma governor also knew of Kialegee Tribal Town casino

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R) knew about the Kialegee Tribal Town casino as early as February 2011, The Tulsa World reported.

The tribe wanted to sign a Class III gaming compact with the state. Fallin's general counsel expressed concerns about the proposed gaming site -- an Indian allotment -- but the tribe noted that the compact is not site specific.

The tribe and Fallin eventually signed the compact and it was approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A notice was published in the Federal Register on July 19, 2011.

Opponents of the Red Clay Casino say the tribe took them off guard by starting work on the facility. The Muscogee Nation was informed about plans as early as June 2010.
