The city council in Beloit, Wisconsin, held a public meeting to discuss the Ho-Chunk Nation off-reservation casino.
Only eight people spoke at the meeting, The Janesville Gazette reported, but most were in favor of the project. Local officials have already stated their support for the casino.
The tribe plans to build a 145,000-square-foot facility with a 300-room hotel and a 35,000-square-foot convention center. The site is located off a major interstate.
The tribe has proposed an intergovernmental agreement that the city is considering.
