The Tohono O'odham Nation is presenting its off-reservation casino to the Peoria Chamber of Commerce today.
The tribe plans the West Valley Resort near Glendale, whose officials oppose the idea.
But in neighboring Peoria, the mayor supports the casino and business leaders are open to it.
"We are in favor of economic development,” Scott Soldat, the Peoria chamber's general manager, told The Phoenix Business Journal. The group does not have an official position on the casino, however.
A lawsuit over the tribe's land-into-trust application for 135 acres near Glendale is pending before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
