Supporters of the Enterprise Rancheria casino rivaled opponents at a forum hosted by Stand Up For California! on Wednesday night.
The group only invited opponents to speak. But about half of the 150 people in the audience supported the casino, The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat reported, with some citing jobs as their concern.
"It's local jobs, and it's under our control," supporter Eric Straatsma told the paper. "These jobs can't be exported to China."
The Bureau of Indian Affairs
approved the casino but Gov. Jerry
Brown (D) has veto authority under the two-part determination section of the
Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act.
The gaming site is about 36 miles from tribal headquarters.
