Phyliss J. Anderson, a candidate for chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, said she will cut ties with a non-Indian gaming firm if elected.
Mercury Gaming and its marketing arm, the Titan Agency, receive $200,000 a month to work for the tribe.
The company convinced the tribe to spend at least $1.3 million on a sponsorship for the Atlanta Braves.
The deals came to light after the FBI raided the Pearl River Resort last month. The search warrant specifically mentioned Mercury and Titan.
Incumbent chief Beasley Denson, who signed the deals with Mercury and Titan, lost an election to Anderson but the tribal council overturned the results. A new vote will be held on September 6.
