The Spokane Tribe says its off-reservation casino will generate millions for the city of Airway Heights and Spokane County in Washington.
The tribe will pay $600,000 in the first year of operation. Every year, the amount will increase by $100,000.
After seven years, the tribe will have paid more than $5.3 million, The Spokesman Review reported.
The fees will continue to grow by 3 percent for each additional year that the casino shows a profit.
The tribe is seeking the casino under the two-part determination of theIndian
Gaming Regulatory Act.
The determination requires approval by the state governor and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Since IGRA became law in 1988, only three tribes have successfully opened off-reservation casinos under the two-part determination.
One is the Kalispel Tribe, which operates in Airway Heights.
