A group called Citizens Against Casino Expansion has launched a website to oppose the Spokane Tribe off-reservation casino in Airway Heights, Washington.
The group represents business owners who say the casino will hurt the area.
They are asking the public to tell the Bureau of Indian Affairs to reject the project.
The tribe is proceeding under the two-part determination section of the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act. The casino will need federal and state approval.
In the history of IGRA, only three tribes have opened casinos under the two-part determination section. One is located in Airway Heights -- owned by the Kalispel
Tribe.
