The Maine House passed a bill to authorize a racetrack with slot machines for the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township.
LD 1203 authorizes up to 1,500 slot machines at two racinos. The tribe's facility would be located in Washington County.
“We are happy with the vote but at the same time we know we still have a long road ahead of us,” Chief Joseph Socabasin told The Bangor Daily News.
The bill still has to pass the Senate. Gov. Paul LePage
(R) has threatened to veto it.
