The Bay Mills Indian
Community of Michigan won't be able to reopen its off-reservation casino as it pursues an appeal in the case.
The tribe asked Judge Paul L. Mahoney for a stay but he denied the request on Thursday. Mahoney has ruled that the casino is operating in violation of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The tribe is asking the 6th Circuit Court of
Appeals to overturn the decision. In the meantime, the casino in Vanderbilt will stay closed.
