Some residents of Glendale, Arizona, want to the city to stop fighting the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation casino.
The city is suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs to block the tribe's land-into-trust application. A federal judge sided with the BIA earlier this month.
"We spent enough money that we should stop and take a reflection on this thing," resident Arthur Thruston told the city council, The Arizona Republic reported. "Why don't we take a look at what they have?"
John LeGendre, another resident, urged against an appeal. He said the tribe's casino would be "an addition and not a detraction" to the city's sports and entertainment district.
Gary Sherwood, a city planning commissioner, also supported the casino. He said the project will generate revenues for the city.
