The developer of the casino for the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians says voters in Richmond, California, should not vote on the project.
The city council is considering an advisory vote on the $1.2 billion Point Molate
Resort at the Point Molate
Naval Fuel Depot. The developer says the election -- even though it is non-binding -- won't benefit the city and could violate the city's agreement to work with the tribe.
"It's political gamesmanship. I think they just want to draw card club money into the election," developer Jim Levine of Upstream Point Molate told The Contra Costa Times.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has
released a draft
environmental impact statement and environmental impact report on the
project.
