The Navajo Nation reported a net win of $11.7 million in the first quarter of 2010, the biggest in the history of the Fire Rock Navajo
Casino in New Mexico.
Last year, the casino reported a net win of more than $41 million. "It's a success," Navajo Nation Council Delegate LoRenzo Bates told The Gallup Independent.
LoRenzo represents the Upper Fruitland Chapter. His community could get a boost from gaming with an $80 million casino whose financing plan was approved by a council committee last week.
The tribe expects to open the casino in October 2011. The facility will include a hotel and will be larger than the Fire Rock casino.
In total, the council committee approved $300 million in financing plans for six casinos.
