The Navajo Nation plans to build five more casinos, with two expected to open this year.
The tribe plans to open a $5 million in Hogback, New Mexico, and a $2.5 million casino in Chinle, Arizona, this October. "We're ready to move right away on those two, to hit the ground running," Sean McCabe, the chairman of the board of directors for the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise, told The Farmington Daily Times.
An $80 million casino in Upper Fruitland, New Mexico, is scheduled to open in October 2011. It will include a hotel and other amenities.
The largest casino would be in Twin Arrows, Arizona. Groundbreaking on the $180 million facility isn't expected for some time but the tribe hopes to open it by October 2012.
Another facility would be located in Pinta Road, Arizona. The tribe already operates the Fire Rock Navajo Casino near Gallup, New Mexico.
