The Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township is urging Maine voters to reject a referendum for a casino in Oxford County.
The tribe says the referendum will prevent future gaming in the state. "If the initiative is passed, it is in effect a moratorium," Gov. William Nicholas told The Bangor Daily News.
Nicholas said the tribe will work with the horse racing industry to oppose the Black Bear Entertainment casino and on future gaming proposals.
