Cherokee Nation woman who went missing was reportedly seen at a tribal casino

Authorities in Oklahoma are investigated the disappearance of Aubrey Dameron, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Dameron, 25, was last seen at her home on March 9, The Grove Sun reported. There has been a potential sighting of her at a casino owned by the Quapaw Nation, an investigator in Delaware County told the paper, and supporters said they have been told the same.

"She loves life and loves people," Dameron's aunt Pamela Smith told The Sun.

Dameron, who is transgendered, stands approximately 5-foot, 9-inches and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, with a triquetra symbol tattooed on her back, and a tattoo reading "shorty" on her upper left arm.

She has been reported as missing in the National Crime Information Center, according to The Sun. That system is separate from the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, also known as NamUs.

A landmark study from the Urban Indian Health Institute found that only 116 American Indian and Alaska Native women and girls were entered into NamUs even though there were 5,712 such reports with the National Crime Information Center.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Delaware County Sheriff at 918-253-4531. Dameron's case is Number 2019-0302.
