The Bureau of Indian Affairs has posted the transcripts from the CARES Act tribal consultation calls that took place on April 2 and April 9, 2020.
The calls were led by Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Tara Sweeney at the Department of the Interior and by Daniel Kowalski, who serves as Counselor to Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin.
Mark Cruz, who serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs for Policy and Economic Development at Interior also participated, acting as a gatekeeper for the comments that were taken from tribal leaders.
The consultations were scheduled to run from 1pm to 4pm Eastern on both days. Interior and Treasury stopped taking comments at 4:02pm on April 2 and at 4:01pm on April 9.
Written comments were accepted by Interior and Treasury through April 13.
