Trickster Task Force Delivery Friday, April 24th
Resources Delivered to Veterans, Elderly and Home-bound
To Our Trickster Cultural Center Community,
Our first grocery delivery last week was a huge success. The Trickster Task Force was able to deliver 50 care packages to Veterans and elderly that are at high risk and unable to go out due to COVID-19. Maintaining connections to our Veteran community is vital during these times. We are in contact with our Veteran community through phone call check-ins and emails and we have a second delivery scheduled for next week.
Last week, through our network of Veterans and Veteran support groups, we were put in touch with a Native Veteran that has been overlooked. Someone in California connected us with a disabled Native Veteran in Chicago that was homebound and without resources. Thank you to Jim, Mike and their team at Illinois Joining Forces for stepping up in a time of need to offer their services for our Native American Veteran. Also one of our Illinois Native Veterans was also able to check in and drop off more supplies from our task force. Networking locally as well as nationally and staying in touch makes a difference in times of need. The Trickster task force is honored to be part of this mutual aid network.
We are grateful to our partners, the Schaumburg/ Hoffman Estates Rotary Club, the Kenneth Young Center, and all those that donated their time and resources to help our Veteran and homebound community.
With the continued COVID-19 social distancing and shelter in place orders, there is a need for additional deliveries to our community. We are requesting support from those who can help our efforts We are looking for volunteers to help pack and deliver to the Schaumburg area on Friday, April 24th from 10 am to noon.
Trickster is also seeking donations of non-perishable food and hygiene items (see list below). Items can be dropped off at Trickster Cultural Center on Thursday, April 23, from 10 am to 1 pm. You may also make a monetary donation by clicking the link below.
