The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, reflecting results as of 7pm Eastern on April 1, 2020.
According to the data, a total of 4,667 people have been tested for the coronavirus. Of those, 268 tested positive for COVID-19, representing another big increase from the 210 previously reported.
Another 3,179 people have tested negative, according to the IHS. Results from 1,220 tests are pending.
The Navajo Area continues to represent the bulk of COVID-19 cases. The IHS counts 176 COVID-19 cases as of April 1. The Navajo Nation reports 214 — a higher number that is based on more recent data.
Most other areas are showing small increases in positive results. The Tucson Area saw its first case, according to the data. The Alaska has gone up to 5 cases while the Oklahoma City has gone up to 19 cases.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the agency says on its website. “This is a rapidly evolving situation and the IHS will provide updated information as it becomes available and is verified.”
