3 new cases, 51,399 recoveries, and no deaths related to COVID-19 reported
WINDOW ROCK, Arizona – On Tuesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported three new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation. The total number of deaths remains 1,741. The report indicates that 51,399 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 514,274 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 53,221, including three delayed reported cases.
Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:
- Chinle Service Unit: 10,209
- Crownpoint Service Unit: 5,155
- Ft. Defiance Service Unit: 5,403
- Gallup Service Unit: 8,926
- Kayenta Service Unit: 5,041
- Shiprock Service Unit: 9,885
- Tuba City Service Unit: 5,762
- Winslow Service Unit: 2,818
* 22 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.
The Navajo Nation remains in “yellow status,” in accordance with Public Health Emergency Order No. 2022-004 available online at: https://www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19.
“Our frontline warriors continue to fight for all of us each day, so let’s continue to fight for them by taking precautions, wearing masks, and getting vaccinated and booster shots to help keep ourselves safe from COVID-19. We are in this together and we must keep our guard up at all times, especially in public places. Please continue to show your love and support for your parents and grandparents as we move forward and keep praying for our people,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.

“We continue to encounter challenges brought by the pandemic, but through our faith and prayers, we continue to strive forward together. With the guidance of our public health experts our numbers of new cases remain low, but we must stay the course and be very cautious.
