WINDOW ROCK, Arizona – On Thursday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 57 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and no deaths. The total number of deaths remains 1,578. A full report will be available after the holiday weekend.
On Thursday, the state of Arizona reported 3,222 new cases, Utah reported 1,289 new cases, and New Mexico reported 1,150.
“This holiday season, please adhere to the protocols and safety measures recommended by our public health experts. As many of our people enjoy the Christmas holiday with their loved ones, our frontline warriors will be out in our communities and in the hospitals treating people and saving lives. Please think of them and the sacrifices they are making to fight COVID-19. We are in this together so please take precautions and have a safe and enjoyable time this Christmas,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.
“Nearly two years into this pandemic, we know what we need to do to reduce the risks and the spread of COVID-19. Please be very cautious and continue to pray for our people, frontline workers, and our communities,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
