11 new cases, 29,514 recoveries, and one more death related to COVID-19
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – On Wednesday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 11 new COVID-19 positive cases for the Navajo Nation and one more death. The total number of deaths is now 1,334 as of Wednesday. Reports indicate that 29,514 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 276,486 COVID-19 tests have been administered. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 30,897.
Navajo Nation COVID-19 positive cases by Service Unit:
- Chinle Service Unit: 5,612
- Crownpoint Service Unit: 2,971
- Ft. Defiance Service Unit: 3,671
- Gallup Service Unit: 4,902
- Kayenta Service Unit: 2,738
- Shiprock Service Unit: 5,246
- Tuba City Service Unit: 3,749
- Winslow Service Unit: 1,989
* 19 residences with COVID-19 positive cases are not specific enough to place them accurately in a Service Unit.
On Wednesday, the state of Arizona reported 433 new cases, Utah reported 360, and New Mexico reported 94 cases.
“On Tuesday, we had zero new cases and no deaths reported, but we have to remain diligent and keep pushing back on COVID-19 by wearing masks, getting vaccinated, and taking precautions in our daily activities. We are in this fight against this invisible monster together, so our actions and choices impact everyone in our communities. Once again, I extend my appreciation to our Navajo people and frontline warriors for bringing down the number of COVID-19 infections by adhering to the public health orders and taking precautions. Please continue to be safe and keep supporting one another,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines during drive-thru events or by appointment. If you would like to receive the vaccine, please contact your health care provider for more information for your Service Unit.
“As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, we must continue to be supportive of our loved ones and others. We know the pandemic is taking its toll on the physical and mental health of our people, so please reach out to your family members, friends, and colleagues and offer support for them. We are in this together and we will overcome through prayer and by continuing to take precautions,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
