OKCIC promotes a healthy New Year by providing virtual services for overall health

OKLAHOMA CITY- Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic providing health and wellness services to American Indians in central Oklahoma, promotes a healthy New Year by providing virtual services for your overall health.

OKCIC can help you to start the new year off right. Your goal could be to get in better fitness shape, manage health conditions, improve eating habits, better your mental health or more. Regardless of what it may be, OKCIC has you covered.

“Oklahoma City Indian Clinic provides excellent health care services, both virtually and in-person,” Dr. Janice Hixson said, OKCIC’s Chief Medical Officer. “We offer a variety of tools to help patients meet their health goals and much more.”

OKCIC has a variety of virtual health and wellness opportunities for patients. These include online cooking demonstrations and videos, virtual meetings with Certified Personal Trainers and Dietitians, access to virtual women’s self defense videos, and more.

Looking for some New Year health goals? Here are a few goals suggested by Johns Hopkins Medicine:

  • Practice mindful eating. It is easy to grab a bag of chips and indulge in your favorite TV series, but eating while distracted can lead to overeating. Try taking the time to slow down on your eating by taking small breaks in between bites.

  • Rest up! Mental health is just as important as physical health. Create a place of peace for your mind to rest, recover and process. It can go a long way. Knocking the thermostat down to 68 degrees or lower before you tuck into bed can also help you sleep better, which can help mental health.

  • Improve fitness. Commit to a socially distant fitness challenge for 30 days. If you do not have equipment, pick a fitness activity that is easy and does not require any. There are many options to challenge yourself, such as practicing yoga or taking regular walks.
