The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 7pm Eastern on April 10, 2020.
According to the data, 11,452 people within the IHS have been tested. Of those, 875 have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The figure represents a 7 percent increase from the 816 cases previously reported.
The data continues to show an increase in testing across most regions of the IHS. The Albuquerque Area, where outbreaks have been reported by tribal and state officials in New Mexico, as well as the Billings Area and the Oklahoma City Area are among the places where testing has ramped up in recent days.
In terms of sheer testing, the Navajo Area remains at the top of the list, with 3,283 administered, according to the data. The Oklahoma City Area (2,091) and the Billings Area (1,512) are ranked second and third, respectively.
The Alaska Area comes in fourth, with 1,130 tests and 7 positives. Testing in the region has flattened out in recent days, according to the data.
“Data is reported from IHS, tribal, and urban Indian organization facilities, though reporting by tribal and urban programs is voluntary,” the agency says on its website. “This is a rapidly evolving situation and the IHS will provide updated information as it becomes available and is verified.”
