The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has confirmed the first COVID-19 case on the South Dakota side of the reservation.
In a press release on April 8, 2020, Chairman Mike Faith said a person in Corson County tested positive. He did not say whether the person is a tribal citizen.
“The person self-quarantined immediately with family,” Faith said in the news release. “The Family has verified no symptoms as of today.”
The Corson County case has not yet been included on the South Dakota Department of Health’s coronavirus page as of early Wednesday afternoon.
Corson County is encompassed by the South Dakota portion of the reservation.
