ROAD BLOCKS IN PLACE AS CURFEW TAKES EFFECT 03.30.20

The Navajo Police Department began holding road blocks this evening, as the Navajo Nation-wide curfew took effect at 8:00 p.m. President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer joined Police Chief Phillip B. Francisco as they handed out COVID-19 pamphlets and urged drivers to return home safely and comply with the curfew. The curfew order is in effect daily from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Navajo Police are also checking for proof of essential work status for drivers and occupants. As a reminder, the curfew does not apply to essential employees reporting to or from duty, with official identification and/or a letter of designation from their essential business employer on official letterhead which includes a contact for verification.

President Nez and Vice President Lizer thank everyone who is following the curfew order. Tonight, they received reports of very low traffic flow in several communities on the Navajo Nation — this is good news! Please remind your family and friends of the curfew and please continue to stay home as much as possible. Ahe’hee’
