The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has donated a $40,000 scholarship to the family of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi woman killed in action in Iraq.

The scholarship is for $10,000 a year for four years of college, The New London Day reports. It could be used for Piestewa's two surviving children, a 4-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter.

Piestewa's children would also be eligible for a tuition-waiver program under consideration at Arizona's public universities, The Arizona Daily Star reports.
