Peggy Nelson: "Please, give us a break. "Squaw" is a term that is not used in any reference, negative or positive, to a woman in present society."

David McDaniel: "Piestewa Peak? Great idea, wrong location, wrong reason. We should name a beautiful natural structure in northeast Arizona for Pfc. Lori Piestewa. However, to link the death of this lady with the phony "squaw" issue is absolutely atrocious."

Wilmer Joshevama: "Piestewa is an appropriate name for a peak that provides runoff for our desert environment. Even if the name change has to wait, it will be an honorable one for our country."

George Garbell: "Trying to capitalize on the patriotic feelings of Arizonans regarding Pfc. Lori Piestewa to achieve a name change for Squaw Peak is disgusting."

Daniel W. Foree: "To our late Barry Goldwater, Squaw Peak and the Hopi and Navajo people were very special. It would honor both Barry Goldwater and all tribes in Arizona if Squaw Peak was renamed "Piestewa Peak," in memory of one of my heroes, Lori Piestewa."
