Tribes and U.S. seek review of whale hunt ruling

FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2003 A coalition of tribal governments, the Bush administration and the Makah Nation of Washington are asking the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a ruling that halted the Makah whale hunt. The Peninsula Daily News reports that 23 tribes joined the U.S. and the tribe in seeking en banc review. If denied, the group could appeal to the Supreme Court. Otherwise, the federal government will prepare a new environmental review of the controversial hunt. Get the Story:
