TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2003

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is expected to decide today whether to recognize the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe of Connecticut.

The tribe, which has state recognition, was turned down during the Clinton administration. The decision was ordered to be reconsidered in late 1999.

The tribe hopes to open a casino in Bridgeport if it gains federal status.
