TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2002 The Department of Interior's claimed reconciliation of 8,000 Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts doesn't impact the majority of oil, gas and other asset owners, The Gallup Independent reports. The reconciliation affected judgment fund accounts. These are payments made to tribal members from land claims or other settlements. As a result, there are little transactions to report and few documents to locate. The 8,000 accounts represented $22.7 million, according to DOI. The majority account holders with oil, gas, timber and other assets would require a more difficult transaction-by-transaction accounting. Lease documents and other records would also be needed.
