Faction of Calif. rancheria forms own tribe
Tuesday, February 3, 2004

There's a new tribe in California -- the Indians of Enterprise No. 1.

The group was formed by about 50 members who were disenrolled by the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe - Enterprise Rancheria. The new chairman, Robert Edwards, said lawyers told him it was OK to start his own tribe.

Edwards used to be vice-chair of the Original Enterprise. But after he and others tribal members supported a failed recall of tribal leaders, they were all disenrolled.
