Navajo Nation president promotes economic plans

Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. addressed the Navajo Nation council on Monday. Shirley touted a major plan to bring business to the reservation. He is asking the council to authorize $500 million in bonds that would fund a capital improvement plan, an economic development plan, a public safety program, improvements in the health care system and college assistance for tribal members. With the bonds, Shirley will attract Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Office Max to the reservation. Get the Story:
