Talks on tribal takeover of bison range continue
Monday, September 8, 2003

The Department of Interior and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes met over the weekend to discuss the management of the National Bison Range in Montana.

The tribes want to manage the range through a self-determination agreement. If approved, it would be the first of its kind for a national park unit.

The range is located entirely within the boundaries of the Flathead Reservation.
