Editorial: Bustamante should return tribal money
Friday, September 5, 2003
California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante "is wrong to take money" that breaks the state's new campaign finance limits, The Modesto Bee says in an editorial. "Citizens should remember that the way candidates conduct themselves in their campaigns is a good indicator of how they will conduct themselves once elected. Bustamante's fund-raising scheme tells us that he's willing to play fast and loose with the rules," the paper says. So far, tribes are spending nearly $3 million to help Bustamante. "Bustamante should give the money back," the paper says. Get the Story:
