The U.S. House of Representatives considers H.R.2815, the Cape Fox Land Entitlement Finalization Act of 2025, on December 15, 2025.

The bill finalizes a land selection in Alaska for the Cape Fox Corporation. The village corporation has been entitled to the land following the passage of the Alaska Native Claim Settlement Act in 1971.

The land selection consists of approximately 180 acres. The land will support the corporation, which serves the Organized Village of Saxman, a federally recognized tribe.

“Alaska’s future is tied to land. It’s how we build infrastructure, develop our resources, and create opportunities for our communities,” said Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska), the sponsor of H.R.2815. “But for far too long, Alaska Native corporations have faced unnecessary delays and constraints in securing the lands they were promised under the Alaskan Native Claims Settlement Act.”

A hearing on the bill took place before the House Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs on May 21, 2025. Thomas Harris, the vice president of the Cape Fox Corporation, testified in support.

The House Committee on Natural Resources approved the bill at a markup on September 17, 2025.

Following consideration, the House passed H.R.2815 under a suspension of the rules.
