The Senate Committee on the Judiciary takes up three nominations, including that of Sara Hill, at a hearing on November 15, 2023.

Hill, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, was introduced to the committee by Sen. James Lankford (R-Oklahoma). She also has been endorsed by Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma), a fellow Cherokee citizen.

After being sworn in, Hill provided a brief opening statement to the committee. She then responded to inquiries about her legal career during the question and answer portion of the hearing.

Hill has been nominated by President Joe Biden to serve as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma. If confirmed, she would be the first Native woman and the first Native person to be a federal judge in her home state.
