MMIW Awareness: A status check
Awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous people continues to grow, even in mainstream circles.
In Colorado an effort to establish an office to tackle Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women cases is making progress in the legislature, but faces some opposition. In California, tribal leaders are pushing for more support to help tribes address the issue. Many other states are working on combating the problem in their own ways.
