The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado is expanding its energy production operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

Last month, the tribe christened Delta House, a $2 billion oil and natural gas production system. The 296-foot semi-submersible floating system is expected to boost revenues for Red Willow Production Company, the tribe's energy development arm.

“Delta House was one of the most cost-effective deep-water production facilities ever built,” Bob Zahradnik, the operating director of the Southern Ute Growth Fund, told The Durango Herald. “We are very proud of the fact that we built this for much less than a major oil company would have.”
