The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana declared a financial disaster on Tuesday and said it will cease nearly all operations as the shutdown of the federal government lingers.

The tribe has already cut back programs, reduced employee hours and furloughed some workers. If the shutdown isn't resolved by tomorrow, nearly everything else will stop, a spokesperson said.

The tribe already suspended its general assistance program. The Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program already ran out of money.
