Roger Yankton wins reinstatement as Spirit Lake Nation chair

Roger Yankton has been reinstated as chairman of the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota.

Yankton went to tribal court to fight his ouster at a general council meeting earlier this month. He will be back on the job today, The Grand Forks Herald reported.

Tribal members voted Yankton out of office after circulating a petition for the general council meeting. They chose Leander "Russ" McDonald as chair but instead he will be serving on the tribal council, the paper said.
