Oglala Sioux Tribe announces plan to operate grocery store

The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota plans to operate its own grocery store on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

The tribe's lease with the Sioux Nation Shopping Center is due to end August 4. President Bryan Brewer said a new store will be open within 48 hours of that date.

The store was briefly shuttered in May 2012 after outdated meat was found on the shelves. The company's attorney said the problems were addressed.
