A leadership dispute within the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma remains unresolved, more than 10 months after voters went to the polls.

Tribal members chose a slate of business committee leaders in a June 2012 election. But a dispute prevented the winning candidates from being seated.

The Court of Indian Offenses, however, said the results must be certified. The winners were sworn in late last month but Chief LeRoy Howard has refused to recognize them, The Native American Times reported.

The failure to resolve the dispute could affect the tribe's operations, the winning candidates say.
